Animal welfare is a top priority for our farmers, as it supports healthy growth and high-quality products.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting health, welfare and good treatment of farm animals at all stages of our production chain. Verifying animal health and welfare on our contract farms is the foundation of safe and responsible food production.
- All our units have several official veterinarians who monitor animal welfare and food safety.
- We procure animals directly from our contract farmers, so we know the origin of animals and the farmers. Our contract farmers are committed to complying with the requirements of HKFoods’ contract production which are designed for each animal species to improve animal welfare.
- Disease prevention in our meat production is world-class. The expertise of our farmers and strict operating guidelines and procedures guarantee that animals are healthy and our products are safe. Our production chain is committed to the prevention of animal diseases and we work closely with the authorities responsible for food safety.
No to growth hormones and unnecessary antibiotics
Animals grow healthy in conditions that promote good disease prevention and well-being. Antibiotics are not utilised at all in our food chain for growth promotion or disease prevention. The use of hormones for growth promotion is also forbidden. In HKFoods' food chain, animals are treated with antibiotics only when they are ill, and only under the prescription and supervision of a veterinarian and in accordance with withdrawal periods. Therefore our products are always safe and antibiotic-free.
